HDTV is a more commonly referred to name for High-Definition Television. HDTV is so popular in this day and age because it is simply better than you're typical TV resolution you grew up watching. Everyone should get an HDTV because most new televisions are high-definition quality and soon enough, the United States will be entirely an HD country.
Every Samsung LCD TV comes standard with HD, but there are other components to be aware of to get the most out of your HDTV. Make sure your cable or satellite TV provider has equipped your home with HD compatible service. If you do indeed have proper equipment, you will be able to access two versions of several different channels - an HD version and a regular version. More and more programs have the HD option as the broadcasting industry becomes more sophisticated.
DVDs also look fantastic in HDTV. When hooking up a DVD player to your Samsung LCD to watch movies, be sure to use what is called an HDMI connection. HDMI is short for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and it allows you to get the most out of your HDTV source when operating the DVD player. An HDMI cable can be picked up at any household electronics retailer if you don't already have one and is well worth the price. Once you go High-Def, there is no turning back!
Enjoy your new LCD HDTV!
